Charity Bribes uses donations to pressure celebrities to do things. Right now you can bribe Larry David to join Twitter by donating to the NRDC. If he does it, the money goes to the charity. If not, he’ll just have to find some way to live with himself.

Been building this with Chris Baker and William Burks Spencer for some time. Hopefully giving to charity will now be just a little more awesome.

SANA, Yemen — Anwar al-Awlaki, an American-born preacher depicted as a leading figure in Al Qaeda’s outpost in Yemen, was killed on Friday morning in the north of the country, according to the Defense Ministry.
Earlier this year, the American military renewed its campaign of airstrikes in Yemen, using drone aircraft and fighter jets to attack Qaeda militants. One of the attacks was aimed at Mr. Awlaki, one of the most prominent members of the Qaeda affiliate group. There was no immediate comment from American officials.

I guess I’m a bad person/citizen because I haven’t been paying attention to the news since I went traveling all over the place, but we’ve been airstriking Yemen since “earlier this year”? And this doesn’t even count as one of our wars? I wonder how many other places we’re bombing that I don’t know about. As long as we only hit civilians it won’t even make the news!
